DLL or Dynamic Link Library is a term that is referred to a particular type of file that can be shared by different programs whenever they need to perform certain general tasks. DLL files eliminate the need for having separate files for the same tasks that are required by applications. This not only reduces the space required by the hard drive, but it also makes the applications more efficient.

These files are usually not noticed by computer users as they work in the background. It is only when one of these files develops a glitch, that the user notices the name of a DLL file in the error message that is displayed on the computer screen. Since most users are unaware of the existence of DLL files, they have absolutely no idea how to resolve these errors. In this moment of despair, they decide to seek the help of a computer expert.
However, it is possible to fix your DLL error if you are aware of the fact that why DLL errors occur. Some of the common reasons behind DLL file errors are:

A DLL file is removed from your system by mistake. This could happen during uninstallation of an application, during the cleaning of your hard disk or purely by human error. Resolving Common DLL errorsA great starting point is noting down the error message and the file name. You should follow it up with researching it on the internet. If the file is missing, you must download the file from a reliable source on the Internet or another computer with a similar configuration as yours and save it in the appropriate folder. Chances are that the DLL error goes away. If it does not, you might have to re-register the DLL file by using the regsvr32 command.

If the DLL file error occurs during an installation, try uninstalling the application and see if the error is still there. If it is gone, you may try to download the application again and try installing it. You may also contact the manufacturer of the program for a solution.

If you find during your research that the DLL file error is a result of a malware infection, you must sweep your system with a robust anti-virus and anti-spyware software.

A lot of DLL errors are really stubborn and may re-occur. Therefore, it is a good practice to identify the sources of DLL errors in your registry and weed them out. You use an efficient registry tool to perform this task.

Cause:

After installing any type of utility, driver or other software program on a computer you can encounter an almost endless list of issues that can be caused by any of the below reasons.

Confliction with other software installed on the computer.

Issue with program.

Improper installation or problems with installation.

Solution:

Reinstall or uninstall the program

If you're encountering problems with your computer or other programs after installing new software on your computer attempt to uninstall the program and see if the issues persist. Additional information about how to uninstall program in Windows can be found on document CH000347.

After the program has been uninstalled try installing the program again. Additional information and tips with installing software can be found on document CH000561.

Note: If after installing a program you're unable to boot into Windows, try booting into Safe Mode. Additional information about getting into Safe Mode can be found on document CHSAFE. In Safe Mode follow the above steps.

Check for software program updates or new versions

If you continue to experience issues verify that the program, game, or utility you're installing doesn't have any updates by visiting the developer of the program website.

If you're installing a software program or drivers for a hardware device such as a printer. Attempt to get the latest software and/or drivers from the manufacturer instead of using the included software.

Before you begin:

There are certain things you should to be aware of when you are searching Google.

1. Google searches are NOT case sensitive.

Searching [New York Times] will retrieve the same results as searching [new york times]. Do not waste your time with capitalizing letters.

2. Google automatically searches for synonyms.

Searching for [springfield il] will automatically retrieve results for [springfield illinois].

3. When searching Google, punctuation is ignored.

Search Tips:

These tips will help you create more effective queries and save you time.

1. KEEP IT SIMPLE!

A search engine is a program that matches words you enter with words on the webpage. Simple searches using descriptive words will retrieve the most relevant results.

Instead of [my head hurts] use [headache]

A search engine cannot answer questions.

Instead of [What are the symptoms of the swine flu?] use [swine flu symptoms] or [symptoms H1N1]

Use as few terms as possible.

Instead of [seven day weather report for springfield illinois] use [weather springfield il]

2. PHRASE SEARCH

Always put double quotes (“example”) around the words included in the phrase. This is especially useful when searching for people or titles.

If you search [water the fate of our most precious resource] the search engine will retrieve any webpage that contains the words water, fate, precious, and resource anywhere in the text of the webpage. If you search [“water the fate of our most precious resource”] the search engine will retrieve any webpage that contains the entire phrase.

If you search [john smith] the search engine will retrieve any webpage that contains the words john and smith anywhere in the page. While this search will retrieve information about John Smith, it will also retrieve pages, for example, about John Williams and Mary Smith. Searching [“john smith”] will only retrieve pages that have the words john smith in that order. Always put double quotes around names of individuals.

3. GOOGLE SITE SEARCH

To search within a particular site, type [site:insertURL insertSearchTERM/S].

EXAMPLE – To search for information relating to healthcare within the National Public Radio website type [site:npr.org healthcare]. This search will only retrieve results from the website www.npr.org. Remember to put a space before your search term/s.

To search for webpages with a particular domain, type [site:insertDomain insertSearchTERM/S]

EXAMPLE – To search for information relating to healthcare from sites with the .gov domain, type [site:.gov healthcare]. This search will retrieve only .gov websites. Remember to put a space before your search term/s.

EXAMPLE – To search for information relating to healthcare from sites with the .gov domain or the .org domain, type [(site:.gov OR site:.edu) healthcare]. Remember to put a space before your search term/s.

4. OR OPERATOR

To search for two possible search terms use the OR operator.

EXAMPLE – To search for information about Super Bowl 2009 or Super Bowl 2010, type [super bowl 2009 OR 2010]. (The OR must be capitalized.)

EXAMPLE – To search for information about the Chicago Cubs or White Sox, type [chicago cubs OR “white sox”].
